Environment

Trees give us oxygen, shade, cleaner air and a steadier climate. Netrika Foundation plants and protects them with students, volunteers and local officials across Champaran.

Plant today, care for it, and let it grow

What we do

Our plantation programme is part of Netrika’s work to protect the environment. It aims to increase green cover, fight climate change and teach people why ecological balance matters.

Students, volunteers and officials plant native species in school campuses and local community areas. The saplings include flowering plants and shade trees, chosen to survive and grow in the local climate.

  • We plant together. Students, volunteers and officials take part in every drive.
  • We keep caring. The programme stresses long-term care so saplings survive and grow, not just get planted.
  • We teach as we plant. Participants learn that trees provide oxygen, reduce pollution and help slow global warming.
  • We plant where people are. Schools and neighbourhoods get green space they can look after.

Our goal

33% green cover

One of Netrika’s stated objectives is to raise green cover to 33% of land area. This helps limit climate change by creating carbon sinks, and improves air quality in villages and towns.

Trees and food

Our Tree Plantation Programme sits alongside our work on food security, sustainable agriculture and organic farming.

Farmers and trees

Through farmer groups in East Champaran, we share knowledge on sustainable farming practices that work with the land.

Climate awareness

Every plantation drive is also a lesson in why trees matter for people’s health and for the planet.

Who we plant with
