Who we are

Netrika Foundation is a voluntary, non-profit organisation working towards improving eye care and supporting the development of underserved and marginalised communities. Registered in March 2022 under the Indian Trust Act, Netrika Foundation began its work with a focus on providing medical assistance, particularly in the field of eye care, while also working towards the social and economic empowerment of communities that face limited access to essential services.

Our work extends across eye care, community development, education, environmental sustainability, women’s empowerment, livelihoods and rights-based awareness. We work with communities across Bihar, with a particular focus on people who are economically and socially disadvantaged.

Our journey

March 2022

Netrika Foundation is registered under the Indian Trust Act.

2022

Netrika Eye Care Hospital is set up by Dr. Kamlesh Kumar at Bhawanipur Zirat, Motihari.

Today

Nearly 50,000 patients cared for, almost 11,000 of them free or at highly subsidised rates.

How it began

Netrika Foundation emerged from the experiences of professionals who had worked with communities and development organisations across different parts of the country. Their work highlighted the need for both continuous support to development initiatives and practical, field-based interventions that could address real community needs.

Netrika Foundation was established in 2022 as an implementation-based organisation committed to providing medical assistance, especially in eye care, while contributing to the development of marginalised sections of society. Since its establishment, the Foundation has worked towards reducing avoidable and curable blindness by providing free or affordable, accessible and sustainable eye care services.

At the same time, its work has expanded to include child development, women’s empowerment, environmental protection, education, farmer and worker groups, livelihood development and the mainstreaming of deprived communities.

Our vision

To establish an exploitation-free, equity-based society full of knowledge, self-reliance, renunciation and care, in an environment committed to human rights.

Our mission

Netrika Foundation works to make essential services and opportunities more accessible to underserved communities. Through eye care, education, environmental initiatives, women’s empowerment, livelihood support and rights-based awareness, we aim to strengthen communities and create pathways towards greater self-reliance and dignity.

What guides us

To provide modern preventive, curative and rehabilitative eye care services to people who have no access to eye care facilities.

To take eye care to the patient’s doorstep, rather than wait for the patient to come to the hospital.

To serve one and all, regardless of caste, colour or creed, whether they can pay, pay a little or not pay at all.

To provide services with humility and care, always mindful of the dignity of the human spirit.
